Theme: The outpouring of God’s righteous wrath and the certainty of His judgment.

Introduction

Revelation 16 shows the pouring out of the seven bowls of God’s wrath. This chapter is not written to entertain curiosity. It is written to warn, to humble, and to remind the reader that God does not overlook evil forever. His patience is great, but His judgment is certain.

Outline

I. The Bowls Reveal the Justice of God (Revelation 16:1–7)

• The first bowl brings painful sores upon those who bear allegiance to the beast.
• The second and third bowls strike the sea and the rivers.
• The angel declares that God is righteous in these judgments.
• What men shed in rebellion, God answers in righteousness.

II. The Bowls Expose the Hardness of Man (Revelation 16:8–11)

• The fourth bowl scorches men with fierce heat.
• The fifth bowl brings darkness upon the throne of the beast.
• Instead of repentance, men blaspheme God.
• Judgment does not soften the rebellious heart when pride still rules it.

III. The Bowls Show the Gathering of Evil Against God (Revelation 16:12–16)

• The sixth bowl prepares the way for the kings from the east.
• Unclean spirits go out to deceive the rulers of the world.
• The nations are gathered for the great day of God Almighty.
• Earthly power and satanic deception unite in opposition to heaven.

IV. The Final Bowl Declares the Fall of the Wicked Order (Revelation 16:17–21)

• The seventh bowl is poured into the air.
• A loud voice from the temple says, “It is done.”
• The great city falls, the nations are shaken, and Babylon comes into remembrance before God.
• No structure built in rebellion can stand when God arises in judgment.

Main Lessons

• God’s judgments are never reckless. They are always righteous.
• Sin hardens the heart when men refuse the truth.
• The world’s rebellion is real, organized, and doomed.
• The people of God must stay awake, clothed, and ready.

Application

• Do not mistake God’s patience for indifference.
• Do not envy the power of the wicked; their end is fixed.
• Guard your loyalty. The mark of the beast represents allegiance to a system opposed to God.
• Live soberly, watchfully, and faithfully while the Lord reigns.

Conclusion

Revelation 16 is not merely about catastrophe. It is about moral certainty. God will judge evil. He will vindicate His holiness. He will not lose control of history. The faithful must not fear the rage of the beast more than they fear the holiness of God.
