The Pillar & Ground of Truth
God’s church is His household. It stands strong and tall when it holds up, shows off, and obeys the truth that gave it life.
Our Key Verse · 1 Timothy 3:15 (NASB 1995)
“…I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.”Read it out loud together. A pillar is a strong post that holds something up high so everyone can see it.
The Church Is God’s Household
For everyone · Pre-K to 5th
A household is a family living together in one home. The Bible says the church is the household of God — God’s big family. God gave His family life through His true word.
James 1:18
“In the exercise of His will He brought us forth by the word of truth…”
Little learners (Pre-K–K): Circle or color the picture of God’s family meeting together. Draw a happy face on each person.
Older readers (Gr 3–5): What does it mean that God “brought us forth by the word of truth”? Write one sentence.
The Church Holds Up the Truth
For everyone
A pillar holds something up high so everybody can see it. The church is the pillar and support of the truth. The church’s job is to lift God’s truth up high and never let it fall.
Mark the helpers (all ages): Check every box that tells something a pillar does. A pillar…
Three boxes are true. One box is not something the church should ever do!

For everyone · reader buddy welcome
Jesus prayed to the Father about His followers. He told us where to find truth.
John 17:17
“Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.”

Hear the Word — Then DO It
Best for Gr 2–5 · little ones can guess out loud
It is not enough to hear God’s truth. We must also do it. Fill in the missing words using the word bank.
James 1:22
“But prove yourselves ____________ of the word, and not merely ____________ who delude themselves.”
Word bank: doers · hearers
Write one thing you will DO this week because you heard God’s word:
Let the Truth Shine
For everyone
When the church holds the truth up high, it shines like a light so others can see God.
Matthew 5:14–16
“You are the light of the world… let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
Little learners: Color the light shining bright.
Older friends: write a name of someone you can shine God’s truth to.
Build-a-Pillar!
Hands-on for everyone
A strong pillar is built one block at a time. Check off each block as you build a pillar that holds up the truth. Color the pillar when it is finished!
Take away any block and the pillar gets weak. The church stays strong when we keep every block!

My Take-Home Challenge

Jude wrote that we should “contend earnestly for the faith” — that means hold tight to God’s truth and don’t let go. This week, be a little pillar at home!
